Re:Masdevallia - 2010/02/09 21:31 it is a Masdevallia, and some of the leaves have fawn colours spots all over 4 leaves and getting worse, I have had this plant since just before xmas. I have repotted it in bark etc, and the roots look fine, it was planted in spag. when I got it, does it have to be kept moist all the time or dry out like the other orchids.??

Re:Masdevallia - 2010/02/10 00:09 Massies mostly like to have moisture around the roots ALL the time without being wet. It sounds very much like the plant is drying out too much and maybe where you have it growing is too dry in atmosphere. These plants come from a high humidity country. Dry air and roots will kill the plant quickly. Also, some Massies like it cool, some like it warm.

Re:Masdevallia - 2010/02/10 14:38 It looks like its in a mesh pot and to me is showing the exact signs as I know them of being DRY and too much air around the roots. If it were a Dracula it would be ok but not a Massie.

Re:Masdevallia - 2010/02/10 19:29 no roy it is in an ordinary black plastic pot, maybe I let it dry out too much.

Thanks
