I had this species for many years in a Florida greenhouse; it bloomed most of each year. I now am struggling with a seedling of D. pulcherrima 'Chumpornensis' under fluorescent lighting, having the same problem as Virgil - the leaves are reddish top and bottom, grow poorly, and senesce rapidly. Root growth is meager also. My Phals and Doritaenopsis hybrids are doing fine. I can't believe that 12" from T8 fluorescent tubes can be causing this effect!

Ophrys, it is as you say. This orchid really looks delicate, and so innocent. It looks as if it has come from Heaven down among us human beings. It looks like an innocent and pure child, which must be nurtured with a lot of tenderness, love and affection. Thanks you so much for sharing
