spider orchid in the hands of an amatuer

I just got my spider orchid and know very little about them. Anybody can recommend sth. on the topic of spider orchids? Are they easy to take care of? I just repotted it into a self-watering pot where you insert a porous porcelain pot into a pot with water in it. Is that a wise idea or will the roots rot? Pls, advise me if you can. thanks.

ok, spider orchids can range from Australian dendrobium/thelychitons to the tropical arachnis. photos or a detailed description would help a lot, cause they need VERY different conditions!

Spider orchid could also refer to Australian terrestrial Caladenia (Arachnorchis) species which would be completely different growing conditions again... I would assume from your question that this is not the case though. Narrowing down to a genus would help the members give suggestions.
