here are some pictures of my uncramped and uncluttered winter grow room. it is still in the works. the tubing on the ceiling running down to the plants is a automatic watering system i built and designed, it is almost done waiting on a few more parts to arrive. when it is done it will take about 1 to 2 minutes to water a little over 80 plants. right now it takes about 45 minutes to do all of them by hand. i keep 200 gallons of water down there one is msu fertilizer another is a homemade brew that they all get everyday and i keep 55 gallons for the humidifier. my light setup is a 1000 watt high pressure sodium with a conversion bulb giving out blue and red spectrum. the plants mounted are growing on moss the mounts are cork, tree fern and slabs i have made from firewood, these are watered every morning and are all specie phals.i also have 2 birds of paradise 1 orange and 1 white, a banana, a tobasco pepper that is loaded and they are ripening my wifes geranium in bloom, some african violets, two bougenvelia and a couple other house plants.
It's an absolutely gorgeous set up and beautiful plants. Thank you so much for showing it to us. Watering system is ingenious.
My concern? Once you have the automatic watering system up and running, how will you prevent water from getting into and sitting in the crown?
Dennis, although not an orchid question, I have to ask about the bird of paradise. I have two babies and was wondering how old your blooming bird is. I am curious as to how long I will have to wait for mine to bloom! Plus, do you keep them inside only during the winter months and how much sun do you give them if you have them outside? Sorry for so many questions but I don't know anyone else who has a blooming bird of paradise! Thanks for sharing a look at your winter set up!
