I am like you Hakulady, outside then fair enough, but not inside, no no!
Gin, I do majority of the time set the little pesky things free outside, or if other people do it, they also try to set them outside, but sometimes you can't help but slip and well, squash the poor thing.
But anyway, at least my worries about this one was not needed. Thats a relief.
well i am okay with some spiders but after seeing a few pics of what a brown recluse can do to you, im much more careful and paranoid.
It does just look like a daddy long legs. Their mouths are too small to bite humans (so I've been told - now I'm going to have to look that up!), but they do eat off smaller pests. My kids and I just found one the other day. I had to pick it up to show my son just how harmless it was and to convince him that it didn't need smashed like the ones I find in the house. And I too have seen the recluse pics. NOT pretty.
Well, I for sure am not going to search to see recluse pictures  Then I could start to be afraid. I just pick them up and throw them out (alive!) and they land on plants or the grass. I also don't mind having one in my room because I am sure they won't climb on me (I hope, so I am sure  )
I live in the northern panhandle region of WV, so it's pretty important to know what's out there, and how to ID if it's what bit you! We recently had black bear sightings, as well as mountain lions, so I'm keeping my summer hikes to a minimum.![]()
I can't blame you for being freaked out - spiders are creepy!! I'm sure he won't do any harm though...unless you see him starting to snack on your orchid leaves, LOL :-)
